Georgian Sterling Silver Pounce Pot. This beautifully crafted pounce pot is made from high gauge sterling silver. It has a plain, tapered body with gadrooned, overlapping collar and a circular foot. The pull-off lid is flat with a number of holes and a knop finial to the centre. The interior is richly gilded. It is hallmarked for London 1828 with the makers mark of Charles Fox II this is rubbed in parts but still readable. The marks are part-replicated on the lid which shows both parts are original to each other. This piece is in beautiful condition with no dents or dints and it stands nice and level without a wobble. The lid generally fits very securely and withstands vigorous shaking although, if its inserted at one particular place, it is quite loose which suggests there is a very slight kink to part of the inner rim of the lid. Please be aware that, after 193 years, there will be some light surface abrasions but there are no deep scratches. The interior gilding is beautifully rich with no signs of wear.
