Antique EAPG Opalescent Glass Salt Shaker Silver Top. The shaker is 3 1/4 inches tall. It is a three part mold and you can see the three mold marks, probably cant see them in the pictures but they are apparent to the naked eye when you look at the piece. It has a glass insert in a rim of silver. This glass insert is in almost perfect condition. I believe this silver rim is sterling but I have no way to test it but when I polished the top slightly and looked at it through a magnifier, I could see no wear as often seen on silver plate and there was no evident under metal. I dont guarantee it as sterling but I believe it is. There are a few dents in the silver rim. The top is original to this piece. It fits perfectly and snug. There are some chips around the neck of the shaker but nothing extensive. I believe this is a blown pressed piece and my guess is it could have been produced anywhere between 1850 and 1900. I have collected some other types of EAPG glass and Im just guessing at this. Im hoping that a serious collector will recognize it and know its value and heritage. Its a really pretty piece and in really nice condition. If you know something about this piece, Id really appreciate you sharing it with me.
