An elegantly plain silver George ll caster of plain form and intricately pierced lantern top, surmounted by a globular turned finial. Free from damage and later Victorian embellishment and engraving. I struggle to find issues with this sturdy and well presented piece of increasingly hard to source George Il silver. The pierced top is a joy and so very tactile. There is a period crest to the body of an arm holding a flaming brand. The hallmarks are for LONDON 1727. I cannot trace the maker, but with time and effort it can surely be attributed. Very early George Il. The hallmarks as clear and crisp today as ever, having been protected from cleaning. Marks to collar too:- lion passant and W. A most sound and sturdy piece of early Georgian silver as you could wish for. A very worthy addition to any silver collection. Height:- 11 cm. Body:- 5 cm.
