BEAUTIFUL MATCHING PAIR OF RARE VINTAGE SOLID STERLING SILVER & GUILLOCHE ENAMEL TOP OPEN S. ALTS & SPOONS BLUE & PINK ENAMEL – DECORATIVE CUT GLASS BASES – HIGH QUALITY CHARLES PERRY & CO ART DECO ERA – HALLMARKED BIRMINGHAM 1938 ANTIQUE SPOONS – ATKIN BROTHERS – SHEFFIELD 1900 – GREAT GIFT! This is a beautiful matching pair of rare vintage solid sterling silver and guilloche enamel top open salts. The enamel tops are in lovely colours of pink and blue with decorative cut glass bases – please see the photos. The effect of guilloche enamel is achieved by a skilled craftsman engraving the silver beneath with a pattern and covering it with the enamel. These gorgeous salts are rare – I have not been able to find another pair the same. They are of high quality, by Charles Perry & Co, at the end of the Art Deco era, hallmarked for Birmingham 1938. The salts come with two unassociated antique spoons, which match each other, by Atkin Brothers, hallmarked Sheffield 1900. They have ball ends and gilt to both sides of the bowls. In good vintage condition overall, you can imagine what a thoughtful, unusual gift they would be for you to give! And remember, collecting silver is a fascinating hobby. As a welcome distraction in these troubled days, why not start your own collection of antique silver? It need not be expensive and you will have something to value and pass on when better times return – a super little investment for the future! Last year I obtained my own hallmark at the London Assay Office. If you have any questions about antique silver, please feel free to contact me and I will try my best to answer your queries. Please note I do not do valuations. Charles Perry & Co; Birmingham 1938. Spoons – Atkin Brothers – Sheffield 1900. The salts are about 3cm in height; 5cm in diameter across the top and each weighs around 71g. Of course, this weight will be almost all due to the glass bases. The spoons are just under 7cm and weigh just over 12g together. As noted, they are in good vintage condition overall, especially considering they are 82 years old. The enamel to both appears to be intact, the silver bands are good. There are the usual little nibbles here and there to the glass bases where the pattern protrudes. There is some wear to the gilt on the spoons. Any dark marks, etc are reflections or bits of age related patina. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING.
